The Louisiana State University Undergraduate Accelerator Program (UAP) is designed specifically for undergraduate international students who choose to join the LSU Global program. In addition to English language support and academic learning pathways, this program provides enhanced acculturation student services.
Accelerator Pathways
The Undergraduate Accelerator Program (UAP) at LSU has three routes, or paths, for international, undergraduate students to complete the program. Each pathway begins at a different term in the program, and the entry point then determines a student’s total number of semesters in the program. UAP students are placed into one of the following pathways based on English-language level and other academic qualifications.
Extended Accelerator
- IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL iBT 60 (PBT 497) or Duolingo Test of English 85
- Total IAP Semesters: 3
Academic Accelerator
- IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 68 (PBT 520) or Duolingo Test of English 95
- Total IAP Semesters: 2
Integrated Direct
- IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 79 (PBT 550) or Duolingo Test of English 100
- Total IAP Semesters: 2
Curricular Bands
UAP courses are organized according to three curricular bands. Regardless of their pathway, UAP students take courses from all three of the following curricular bands, but the specific courses in each band may differ:
- Support: courses that introduce students to their new community
- English: courses that provide English-language instruction by language level
- General Education: LSU courses that provide foundational knowledge for later study.
Credit Hours
Students enrolled in the Extended and Academic Accelerator Programs will be enrolled in LSU credit-bearing coursework that will transfer and be applicable towards their LSU degree upon progression from the LSU Global Pathway.
Students enrolled in Integrated Direct Program will earn LSU credit towards their degree according to the regulations applicable to all regular degree-seeking LSU students.
