LAW 5312 - Accounting for Lawyers Credit(s): 2 A student who is a certified public accountant, earned a post-secondary degree in accounting, or earned more than 9 credit hours in post-secondary accounting courses is not eligible to register for this course. An introduction to accounting concepts and the practical application of those concepts to the practice of law. The course will assist students in reading and understanding financial statements (balance sheet, income statements, statement of cash flows), financial ratios, and other topics useful in a business environment. The course will use accepted accounting principles to assist students in evaluating and valuing businesses and appreciating the business needs of clients. The course is designed for students unfamiliar with accounting so that the prior study or training in accounting or business (while welcome) is not necessary.
