LAW 5843 - Family Law Seminar Credit(s): 2 Prerequisite(s): Credit in or currently enrolled in Family Law. This seminar will explore selected family law issues in the United States and abroad. Discussion will center in the United States, but strong emphasis will also be placed on comparative study of unique features of family law in jurisdictions with legal regimes derived from the civilian tradition. The course will cover topics such as the requirements of entry into marriage and the varying forms of marriage, theories of marital dissolution, child custody, assisted reproductive technologies, and adoption. Grades will be based on the instructor(s) evaluation of student papers, individual class presentations, oral and written student commentary on classmates( drafts, and class participation.
