LAW 5542 - Capital Punishment Law Credit(s): 2 This course is a study of the constitutional and systemic issues related to the death penalty, including: jury selection; restrictions on death-eligible crimes and offenders; aggravating and mitigating evidence in penalty proceedings; victim impact evidence; the appellate process and collateral attack; methods of execution; clemency; and international issues in death penalty cases, such as the application of treaty law and extradition issues.
