LAW 5787 - Law, Rhetoric, and Public Policy Seminar Credit(s): 2 Prerequisite(s): Legal Research & Writing I (LAW 5021 ) and Legal Research & Writing II (LAW 5022 ) This course will examine the relationship between rhetoric, public policy and the law and explore key rhetorical theories, with an emphasis on the constitutive nature of the law. We will examine how laws are shaped by and help to shape public perception and policy. Students will engage in a semester-long research project culminating in a seminar paper in which they apply a rhetorical lens to an important legal issue of their choosing.
