LAW 5312 - Accounting for Lawyers Credit(s): 2 This is an experiential simulation course designed to introduce students to accounting concepts and the practical application of those concepts to the practice of law. Students will learn to understand financial statements (balance sheet, income statements, statement of cash flows), financial ratios, and other topics useful in a business and tax environment. The course will use accepted accounting principles to assist students in evaluating and valuing businesses and appreciating the business and tax needs of clients. Restrictions on Enrollment. This course is intended for students who do not have a background in accounting. A student who is a certified public accountant, earned a post-secondary degree in accounting, or earned more than 9 credit hours in post-secondary accounting courses is not eligible to register for this course. This course is graded Pass/Fail (E, HP, P. F). Participation requires consent of the instructor.
