LAW 5751 - Introduction to United States Law I

The course is required for all international graduate students. Introduces students in Graduate Studies program to the structure of the U.S. legal system, federalism, common law reasoning, American legal and constitutional history. The course begins with an intensive two-week introduction to the Socratic method, briefing cases and the structure of the U.S. legal system. The remainder of the course is devoted to studying the fundamentals of substantive topics, such as torts, contracts, administrative law, constitutional law, property law and family law.
