LAW 5622 - Law Practice Technology

Credit(s): 2
This is an experiential simulation course in which students apply technological tools to factual scenarios in a simulated lawyer/client setting. Through multiple simulated exercises with faculty feedback, students develop their knowledge of, and skill in using, technological tools common to the practice of law in the 21st century. Technology covered by the course includes basic office applications, case management and billing software, e-discovery, document automation, cloud storage, data analytics and business intelligence, and e-filing. The course will also address the ethical obligations of lawyers implicated by technology and how to meet those obligations. Ethical considerations will be incorporated into weekly discussions of specific technological tools. This course is graded on the 4.0 scale.
