  • Leadership & Human Resource Development

All types of organizations worldwide (for-profit, non-profit, governmental, community development) are challenged to keep pace with changing social, ecological, economic, and technological systems.  In addition, organizations increasingly understand that the key to their success and the key to successfully navigating today’s changing landscape is their people.

Graduates of the BS program in Leadership & Human Resource Development (LHRD) develop the knowledge and skills to help organizations develop their people to meet the challenge of change.  Our graduates learn how to make people, the human capital in organizations, more agile, prepare the workforce for change, connect and reenergize people with their work, recraft jobs and increase workforce flexibility.  With this degree graduates will earn recognition as a human capital professional capable of conducting data-driven analysis; engaging with organizational leaders; identifying, implementing, and leading innovative solutions to organizational performance issues; and functioning as a strategic partner in helping organizations reach their goals.

Students completing this curriculum are prepared for a wide range of employment options including training and development in business and industry; and human resource development.  Career opportunities include training and development specialist, instructional designer; career development specialist, and non-profit organization program coordinator.

The School of Leadership & Human Resource Development is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and is a member of the University Council for Workforce and Human Resource Education, a national consortium of leading research universities.

Admission into the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development for the Bachelor of Science in Leadership & Human Resource Development

Students are eligible for admission to the school in accordance with admission and retention requirements prescribed by the College of Human Sciences and Education.

Students wishing to enter the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development Bachelor of Science degree program in Leadership & Human Resource Development must satisfy the following minimum requirements:

  • 24 earned semester hours with a 2.2 cumulative and LSU GPA;
  • English proficiency – advanced placement in credit for, or grade of “C” or better in ENGL 1001  (ENGL 1004 );
  • General Education Math proficiency – advanced placement in credit for, or grade of “C” or better in MATH 1021  or higher
