Pre-Public Health

The LSUHSC School of Public Health in New Orleans offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree. The following program is designed for students planning to apply to this degree. Approval of course selections must be obtained from the Assistant Director of Allied Health Programs in University College located in 136 Allen Hall or from the head of the appropriate professional department at the LSUHSC School of Public Health. A copy of this approval must be placed in the student’s file in University College. Declaration of “Pre-Public Health” does not constitute admission into the Public Health degree program at the LSU Health campus. Applications are accepted on a selective basis.

Critical Requirements
The following outline of Critical Requirements must be met by the semester indicated to ensure that minimal progress will be made in the program selected.
Semester 1: “C” or better in ENGL 1001 or ENGL 1004 and General Education Analytical Reasoning.
Semester 2: “C” or better in General Education Natural Sciences. 2.25 LSU GPA. 2.25 Cumulative GPA.
Semester 3: “C” or better in General Education Natural Sciences. 2.5 LSU GPA. 2.5 Cumulative GPA.
Semester 4: “C” or better in ENGL 2000 or ENGL 1005 . 2.75 LSU GPA, 2.75 Cumulative GPA. Declare a Degree Program.
Semester 5: 2.75 LSU GPA, 2.75 Cumulative GPA
60 Total Sem. Hrs.
* From CSC, EXST, or MATH
** 3 hours must be from CMST
*** If 2 course natural science sequence is taken in the physical sciences, the additional 3 hour natural science course must be from the life sciences, and vice versa.
**** 3 hours must be 2000 level or higher
