Louisiana State University’s Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog is a static document meant to reflect the requirements and programs in existence at the time of a student’s enrollment in the university. Below is a list of academic programs that have been created since the catalog’s initial online publication in March 2020.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCES

The Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology will provide knowledge and skills necessary for the use and integration of technology in educational context. The certificate will benefit teachers, corporate educators, instructional designers, or instructional technologists who would like to increase their knowledge and skills in using technology for educational and training purposes. It appeals to those who wish to understand and initiate best practices through instructional design activities, theory, and principles for designing and developing courses that support a variety of educational purposes for the classroom or a corporate setting.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN SPORT MANAGEMENT

The Master of Science in Sport Management is to enable Louisiana State University to be a regional and national leader in the education and development of graduate students in the sport industry through a critical examination of both practical and academic applications of management principles. Through research, engagement, and an appreciation for interdisciplinary approaches, we will provide coursework, encourage volunteerism, promote intellectual achievement, and require high levels of competence to help prepare students for careers in the sport industry. The goals of the program are to develop students who are critical thinkers and inspirational leaders fully prepared for lives of service to their families, communities, and the greater global society.

The concentration in Business Analytics gives students the option to satisfy degree requirements while acquiring technical competencies in data analytics, focusing on the four main components of analytics: Preparative Analytics, Descriptive Analytics, Predictive Analytics, and Prescriptive Analytics. This knowledge is essential to applying analytics to a broad range of business decisions.

The concentration in Digital Marketing allows students to satisfy degree requirements while acquiring useful knowledge about marketing theory and practical insights necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving digital marketing landscape, as well as gaining e-commerce, marketing analytics, and social media expertise.  Each of these skill sets map to job roles that are in high demand in a variety of marketing settings.

The concentration in Human Resource Management gives students an understanding of the strategic role human resource management has in an organization and allows them to acquire competencies in key functional areas of human resources, including human resource analytics, employee selection, compensation, employment regulation, and/or labor relations. The HR Concentration requirements are aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management’s Curriculum Guidelines.

The concentration in Information Technology Management gives students the option to satisfy degree requirements while acquiring technical competencies including principles, database querying, and business programming. According to Burning Glass research, skills such as Business Intelligence, Database Specialist, and IT Management are requested on average 41% by employers.  With a degree in business and a focus on Information Technology Management, employees can leverage those specific skillsets to support and compliment a wide array of business operations.
