NS 4411 Fundamentals of Nuclear Radiation Science (3)

Prereq.: MATH 2065  or MATH 2090 ; PHYS 2102 . Concepts of atomic and nuclear structure, transmutations and decay. Interactions of charged particles, neutral particles and photons with matter; radiation attenuation and energy deposition. Introduction to nuclear fission and fusion; application to nuclear power. Biological effects of radiation.
