The Graduate Certificate in Community Engagement is available to students enrolled at LSU and to non-traditional students desiring additional training in working with community organizations. The 18 credit hour curriculum is comprised of three core (required) courses and three elective courses. The objective of this proposed program is to promote informed, skilled public service to community organizations. Traditional and non-traditional students will enhance their career opportunities in non-profit organizations, governmental relations, and administration of public entities, their grant-writing activities and funding, and their development of applied research agendas by earning an applied academic credential focused on community engagement. The program emphasizes understanding how community and social organizations operate, are administered, and can be helped to thrive especially in regards to their structures, communication and social media, and economic development or revitalization.
