Pre-Public Health

The LSUHSC School of Public Health in New Orleans offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree. The following program is designed for students planning to apply to this degree. Approval of course selections must be obtained from the Pre-Public Health advisor in the Center for Advising & Counseling or from the head of the appropriate professional department at the LSUHSC School of Public Health. A copy of this approval must be placed in the student’s file in the Center for Advising & Counseling. Declaration of “Pre-Public Health” does not constitute admission into the Public Health degree program at the LSU Health campus. Applications are accepted on a selective basis.

Critical Requirements
The following outline of Critical Requirements must be met by the semester indicated to ensure that minimal progress will be made in the program selected.
Semester 1: “C” or better in ENGL 1001 or ENGL 1004 and General Education Analytical Reasoning.
Semester 2: “C” or better in General Education Natural Sciences. 2.25 LSU GPA. 2.25 Cumulative GPA.
Semester 3: “C” or better in General Education Natural Sciences. 2.5 LSU GPA. 2.5 Cumulative GPA.
Semester 4: “C” or better in ENGL 2000 or ENGL 1005 . 2.75 LSU GPA, 2.75 Cumulative GPA. Declare a Degree Program.
Semester 5: 2.75 LSU GPA, 2.75 Cumulative GPA
60 Total Sem. Hrs.
* From CSC, EXST, or MATH
** 3 hours must be from CMST
*** If 2 course natural science sequence is taken in the physical sciences, the additional 3 hour natural science course must be from the life sciences, and vice versa.
**** 3 hours must be 2000 level or higher
