Pre-Physician’s Assistant

The Pre-Physician Assistant program is an enrollment option available to incoming Freshmen students who are interested in preparing for a Physician Assistant graduate program, but have not decided on which undergraduate degree program they will complete.

Students in this program can work with University College to schedule courses that will apply towards Physician Assistant programs offered at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and Shreveport, as well as undergraduate majors that align with the prerequisite requirements of these degree programs. Students are required to declare an undergraduate degree program by the end of their second semester, but may continue to receive advising services regarding these Physician Assistant programs from University College.

Critical Requirements

The following outline of Critical Requirements must be met by the semester indicated to ensure that minimal progress will be made in the program selected.

Semester 1: “C” or better in ENGL 1001  and MATH 1021 . 2.0 LSU GPA. 2.0 Cumulative GPA.
Semester 2: “C” or better in MATH 1022  or MATH 1550 , and CHEM 1201 . 2.25 LSU GPA. 2.25 Cumulative GPA. Declare a Degree Program.
Semester 3: “C” or better in BIOL 1201  and CHEM 1202 . 2.5 LSU GPA. 2.5 Cumulative GPA. Declare a Degree Program.
Semester 4: “C” or better in ENGL 2000  and BIOL 1202 . 2.75 LSU GPA. 2.75 Cumulative GPA. Declare a Degree Program.
