Communication Studies

CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS

SEMESTER 1: “C” or better in ENGL 1001 .
SEMESTER 2: CMST 1150 or CMST 1061 ; First course in Foreign Language Sequence.
SEMESTER 3: CMST 2060 ; CMST 2010 ; Second course in Foreign Language Sequence; Admission to the College.
SEMESTER 4: CMST 2020 or CMST 2063 ; CMST 2040 ; General Education Analytical Reasoning.

Majors in Communication Studies must complete a minimum of 36 semester hours of approved electives in the department. At least 12 of these hours must be numbered 3000 or above. Students should contact the undergraduate advisor to decide on a program of approved electives; see the CMST website for suggestions on topical foci. Fifteen hours of core courses are required: CMST 1150 or CMST 1061 ; CMST 2060 ; CMST 2010 ; CMST 2020 or CMST 2063 ; and CMST 2040 .

The department requires that the two course sequence in natural science be accompanied by two hours of corresponding labs.
