Architecture, M.S.


The Master of Science in Architecture is a graduate research degree that culminates in a thesis. The degree prepares students to acquire research skills on the built environment for entry into doctoral programs, as well as careers in academia, research-intensive professional practice, and public policy and administration. The M. S. is intended to serve students and returning professionals with degrees in architecture (BA, BS, BArch or MArch), as well as in allied fields such as landscape architecture, interior design, engineering, urban design, and urban planning. The M. S. will combine graduate-level study in architectural topics with faculty-guided advanced studies in the following four areas of concentration:

  1. Sustainable Coastal and Deltaic Architecture and Urbanism,
  2. Innovative Material and Construction Technology,
  3. Spatial Justice and Caribbean Studies,
  4. Studies in Modernity and Tradition.
