CURRICULUM:

• Leadership & Human Resource Development

The curriculum in leadership and human resource development (LHRD) is designed to prepare students for human capital and human resource development careers in business, industry, and government.  Students graduating from this program pursue careers in human resource development, training and development, human resources (HR), HR/training administration and consulting, management development, career development, and technical training. The undergraduate LHRD program emphasizes leadership in the development of human capital and the application of human resource/training and development processes in the workplace to meet the unique needs of business, industry, and government.

This program stresses development of leadership skills and human resource development (HRD) competencies that includes principles of human resource development, fundamentals of industrial/organizational psychology, needs analysis, program evaluation, adult learning, workplace training design and delivery, management of the HRD function, and organizational consulting. Emphasis is placed on developing leaders and human resource development professionals capable of responding to the dynamic and diverse needs of the modern workplace. Graduates of this program learn how to make the people, the human capital in organizations, more agile, prepare the workforce for change, connect and reenergize people with their work, recraft jobs and increase workforce flexibility.  Graduates are capable of conducting data-driven analysis; engaging with organizational leaders; identifying, implementing, and leading innovative solutions to organizational performance issues; and functioning as a strategic partner in helping organizations reach their goals.   Master’s and doctoral programs also are available.  For additional information, see “The Graduate School ” section or contact the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development.

The School of Leadership & Human Resource Development is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and is a member of the University Council for Workforce and Human Resource Education, a national consortium of leading research universities.

Admission into the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development for the Bachelor of Science in Leadership & Human Resource Development

Students are eligible for admission to the school in accordance with admission and retention requirements prescribed by the College of Human Sciences and Education.

Students wishing to enter the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development Bachelor of Science degree program in Leadership & Human Resource Development must satisfy the following minimum requirements:

• 24 earned semester hours with a 2.2 cumulative and LSU GPA;
• English proficiency – advanced placement in credit for, or grade of “C” or better in ENGL 1001  (ENGL 1004 );
• General Education Math proficiency – advanced placement in credit for, or grade of “C” or better in MATH 1021  or higher
