Human Resource Education, M.S.

(SHRE)

The MS degree is available with the thesis or non-thesis option. Areas of concentration include human resource and leadership development, agricultural, extension, and adult education, and workforce development. The thesis option requires a minimum of 30 semester hours, including six hours of thesis research. The non-thesis option requires a minimum of 36 semester hours of coursework, at least half of which must be in courses numbered 7000 and above. Final examinations are required in both options.

The MS degree with a concentration in human resource and leadership development (HRLD) is offered both on-campus and 100% online. The coursework and the degree received are the same for both programs. The traditional on-campus program follows the regular university semester calendar but classes are all offered in the evenings so working professionals who prefer a face-to-face course can attend. The online program follows the LSU Online calendar with six seven-week modules offered every year. The online program courses are targeted at working adult professionals who are unable to come to campus and prefer the convenience of classes taught 100% asynchronously so there are no set class hours. Students can work the classes into their schedules in the way that best fits their individual lifestyles.
