The graduate certificate in materials science and engineering requires 15 credit hours or coursework in five core studies from eight different departments in two colleges (College of Science and College of Engineering) providing the student exposure to:

• current topics in materials science and engineering
• thermodynamics of materials
• synthesis of materials
• analysis of materials
• simulations of materials
