(CLBS)
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Library Science will be conferred upon students who demonstrate academic and vocational competence by successfully completing the five required online courses. Students who complete the certificate will acquire the perspective and skills necessary to provide para-professional support services in public and academic libraries with minimal on-the-job training. Para-professionals account for over eighty percent of library positions held in Louisiana and the Occupational Outlook Handbook predicts that employment for library paraprofessionals will continue to increase at a rate of 5% per year. This online program will prepare career-change baccalaureate degree holders as well as recent graduates and may qualify current library employees for promotions or salary increases. It may be completed full-time or part-time.
Students are required to complete the following five courses:
*The LSU Board of Supervisors may modify tuition and/or fees at any time without advance notice.
A post-baccalaureate certificate, as defined by the Board of Regents, is “an academic offering that is earned after a student has already completed a recognized baccalaureate degree.”
