The LSU Health offers a “2+2” program in Medical Laboratory Science (Medical Technology). Please contact the Assistant Director of Allied Health Programs in University College for more information.

The following program is designed for students planning to apply to the Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences at LSU Health in New Orleans and Shreveport. Students should check the LSU Health Sciences Center website for any additional updates or changes to the prerequisite curricula in medical technology. Visit www.lsuhsc.edu or www.lsuhscshreveport.edu for more information.

Approval of course selections must be obtained from the Assistant Director of Allied Health Programs in University College or from the head of the appropriate professional department at the LSU Health School of Allied Health Professions. Students are required to meet with the Assistant Director of Allied Health Programs each semester to review their schedule and discuss any possible changes in prerequisites and entrance requirements to this program. A copy of this approval must be placed in the student’s file in the Center for Advising & Counseling.

Admission to this program occurs once per year, with applications due on the AHCAS platform no later than August 31st of each calendar year, with the programs starting at one of the LSU Health Science Centers each Spring semester.
