Vision and Mission of the School of Collaborative Academic Programs
As a leading research-extensive university, LSU challenges undergraduate and graduate students to achieve the highest levels of intellectual and personal development. In keeping with this vision, the School of Collaborative Academic Programs (SCAP) supports multi-college, multi-disciplinary and cutting edge convergent academic programming.
The mission of the School of Collaborative Academic Programs is to provide academic programming to undergraduate and graduate students, involving deep integration across disciplinary boundaries. These programs require the convergence of knowledge that utilizes the strengths of more than one school or college to address exceptionally complex problems relevant to the human condition.
Deans of the SCAP
The SCAP is under the executive leadership of three deans from the colleges and schools appointed by the provost, and the vice provost for Academic Affairs serving ex officio. The deans serve staggered three-year terms. The deans of the SCAP, as the chief representatives and executive officers of the SCAP, shall have general administrative authority over SCAP affairs. The deans shall exercise leadership in the formulation of policies, in the introduction of educational ideas and proposals, and in the stimulation of SCAP discussions leading to improvement of the educational programs of the SCAP. The deans’ responsibilities shall include both strengthening the SCAP and its programs, and representing those programs to the University and to the community.
